Commonly Asked Questions
1. When is the deadline for registering?
As soon as the 50 available spots are filled up, registration will close. Participants are
encouraged to register as soon as possible to save their spots.
2. How do I register my child?
A parent or guardian must register for his or her own child by clicking the “book online” button. A
registration link with details will be sent upon booking.
3. If my child is 9 years old now but will be 10 years old by the time the workshop starts, can he/she register now?
Yes.
4. If my child is 15 years old now but will turn 16 years old by the date the workshop begins, can he/she register now?
Yes, although there are volunteer opportunities for 16 years and older.
5. Are parents allowed to sit in and watch?
Yes, as long as we have room! We encourage parents to watch the interviews/filming.
6. Are meals served during the workshops?
Hospitality generally provides finger foods/snacks and water for the participants.
7. How do we choose our guests?
We choose guests based on recommendations from people from the community who have true stories that provoke faith in Jesus and to which the youth may be able to relate.
8. If I know someone who I think may be an inspiring guest speaker, how do I submit their name for consideration?
We want to get in touch with anyone you think has a compelling true story of God’s deliverance, healing, strength, and/or miracles. Our youth need to hear their stories! Please go to the “Contacts” tab and e-mail us your name, the name of the recommended guest speaker, the approximate age of the guest speaker (we try to select a variety if generations), their contact information, and a brief summary (2-3 sentences) of why you think he/she would make a good interviewee.

9. What if the participant I registered cannot come? Can I get a refund?
The registrations are nonrefundable, so please make sure your participant is available during all the dates of the summer workshops.
10. If my child is interested in the workshops but not interested in actually interviewing or working the audio/visual equipment, can he/she attend without having to interview or film a guest?
Yes! However, all the participants rotate through all of the workshops during week 1. It is during this week that the participants decide which skill they want to actually activate in week 2. Everyone is encouraged to choose at least 1 skill they will participate in during week 2. However, participants who prefer to observe can do so.
11. If my child wants to participate in interviewing, audio/visual, photography, hospitality, AND video editing, is that possible?
Yes, participants who want to activate more than one skill during the workshops can sign up to do all 5 if they so desire. They will rotate through each skill.
12. Does everyone have to participate in video editing?
No, although we encourage everyone to learn the skills, even if they are not submitting a video for the competition. It is fun and creative.
13. Are the legacy videos available for publication on my child’s social media?
No. All media used for the legacy videos are the sole property of Bridge the Gap of Brevard and/or the individual guest speaker and should not be published in any way, through any media, without the express written permission of the subject guest and Bridge the Gap of Brevard. The participants will be instructed about the importance of not publishing or distributing the legacy films and observing privacy interests and copyright laws during the workshops.
